Hello!
I'm a freelance journalist based in Lawrence, KS. I'm often covering food, drink, and the hospitality industry, but my range of work also includes health, beauty, parenting, and horticulture. Look for my Bar Kit and Classic Comfort Food series' in The Daily Beast's Half Full, or check out my Midwestern city wine guides, historical deep dives, and more on Wine Enthusiast.
Before moving back to my home state, I lived in New York where I held editorial positions at Supercall.com, Wine Enthusiast, Liquor.com, SHAPE, and Women's Health. My work has also appeared in Eater, Thrillist, Vinepair, and Women's Health, among others.
I've served as a spirits judge for the American Craft Spirits Association and was a contributor to The Oxford Companion to Spirits and Cocktails, published in 2021.
In my spare time I'm also an enthusiastic, self-taught sewist and knitter who enjoys finding the beauty in perfectly imperfect handmade items. I first learned to machine and hand sew around the age of eight, and now I use these skills to alter, mend, and make garments from scratch. My long-term goal is to create a fully handmade wardrobe full of natural fibers (linen! wool!), and move away from fast-fashion toward more sustainable options.
